Hebe ‘Caledonia’

Hebe ‘Caledonia’ photographed at The Quinta Arboretum, Swettenham, Cheshire, UK

Hebe ‘Caledonia’ is an attractive, dwarf, evergreen shrub, which reaches 2 ft (60 cm). The leaves are spear-shaped, about 1 in (25 mm) long and 0.25 in (6 mm) wide, the youngest leaves are reddish. The violet flowers are in spikes, about 2 in (50 cm) long. Fairly hardy in the UK and easy to grow, always looks good.

The origin of this hebe is unknown; also called Hebe ‘E B Anderson, Hebe ‘Knightshayes’, Hebe ‘Percy Picton’ and Hebe ‘Porlock’. Hebe ‘Pascal’ and Hebe ‘Red Rum’ seem to be similar.
