Hebe urvilleana is an open branched evergreen shrub growing to 6 ft (1.5 m) . The green leaves are oval, 0.4–1 in (1–2.5 cm) long, and variable in size and shape between plants of the same population. The flowers are white, summer.

This hebe is found in manuka scrub on serpentine rocks on D’Urville Island, to the north of the South Island, New Zealand. It is also found on serpentine rocks in the Richmond Range, Nelson, South Island, New Zealand.
