Griselinia littoralis ‘Brodick Gold’ is a dense, evergreen, bushy shrub which can reach 10 ft (3 m). The oval variegated leaves are 1–5 in (2.5–11 cm) long, with a central cream splash and green edges. The small flowers are yellow-green, male and female flowers seen on separate bushes; spring. It originated as a sport of Griselinia littoralis ‘Variegata’ at Brodick Castle Gardens, Isle of Arran, Scotland. Griselinia littoralis ‘Brodick Gold’ is tender in the UK, but suitable for maritime exposure. Griselinia littoralis grows in the forests and scrub of New Zealand. |
