Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Irene Paterson’ is a slow-growing, evergreen, large shrub or small tree of columnar habit, growing up to 6.5–10 ft (2–3 m) high. The oval, shiny, oval, green leaves are 1–1.6 in (2.5–4 cm) long, speckled with white. New leaves are the most white. The flowers are very dark purple, sweetly scented; spring.

Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Irene Paterson’ was discovered by Grahame Paterson at Kennedy’s Bush Reserve in the Port Hills, Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, and named after his wife.
