Gaultheria crassa
Gaultheria crassa is a stout bushy shrub, which grows up to 40 in (1 m) high, although smaller at higher altitudes. The thick, leathery and rigid leaves are 0.4–0.6 in (10–15 mm) long. The small white flowers are carried in clusters, summer. Gaultheria crassa is found in grassland, open and rocky places, in subalpine to low alpine areas of the North Island (Ruahine Range southwards), and South Island, New Zealand. |
